The union of two Dutch top producers makes KeyFilm one of the most experienced production companies of the Netherlands. Founders Hanneke Niens and Hans de Wolf have won prestigious awards (including an Oscar, an Emmy and three times the Prix Europa). They have had box office hits (Twin Sisters, Nynke, Oysters at Nam Kee's, Bride Flight) and have launched national (Pieter Kuijpers) and international (Marleen Gorris) careers. Vital to their approach is the close collaboration with writers and filmmakers to develop intelligent, character-driven audience favourites and art-house films.
Thanks to their years of experience, Hanneke and Hans have built a vast network of co-producers, funds and financers. This makes KeyFilm a natural partner in the world of international co-productions. They have succesfully worked with Samsa Film in Luxembourg, co-producer of Silent City, twice before. Both times this was a film by director Ben Sombogaart: Twin Sisters and Bride Flight. For this last production Hanneke and Samsa were awarded the Luxembourg Film Award for Best Co-production 2009.
As co-founder of IDTVFilm, Hanneke Niens was involved in the development and production of successful films such as Godforsaken, Cloaca and Bride Flight. Her productions have won fifteen Golden Calf Awards at the Netherlands Film Festival, Twin Sisters was nominated for the Oscar® for Best Foreign Language Film.
Hans de Wolf founded Egmond Film and TV, the production company that won the Oscar® for Best Foreign Language Film with Antonia’s Line. Films such as Nynke, Chopsticks and Bluebird were awarded a.o. with a Golden Calf, a Prix Europa and a Crystal Bear.
In 2010 Hanneke Niens and Hans de Wolf founded production company KeyDocs, allowing them to turn their expertise towards producing thought-provoking documentaries.
Hanneke and Hans are guest tutors at the Netherlands Film and Television Academy, Theatre Academy Maastricht and EAVE.
