By the end of WWII, the German village of 15 year old girl Winnie is occupied by the battalion of the young Russian soldier Alexei. When a train with dying prisoners of the concentration camp Bergen Belsen is stranded close to the village, the prisoners are accommodated in the village. Among them a Dutch Jewish student named Simon, whose parents didn’t survive the war. Stuck together in a town that is troubled with starvation, sickness and death, an unexpected friendship derives.
