KeyFilm has struck a deal with publisher De Geus to produce a film adaptation of The house of the mosque, Kader Abdolah´s bestselling novel. Since its publication in 2005 it has sold over 300,000 copies and has received critical acclaim.

Beri Shalmashi (writer and co-director of the One Night Stands The other and Mama) has been commissioned to write the script. The film will be directed by Bahman Ghobadi (A Time For Drunken Horses, Turtles Can Fly), with whom Beri Shalmashi is momentarily working on a feature film in Iraq.
